51ĀŅĀ× Continues to Climb in Latest Rankings
51ĀŅĀ× continues to rise in the latest rankings.
The publication ranks four-year schools ā including national universities, liberal arts colleges, baccalaureate colleges and masterās universities ā based on their contribution to the public good in three broad categories: social mobility, research and service.
āAbout a couple of decades ago, Washington Monthly developed and began publishing their ranking of universities with metrics that, I believe, are more true measures of the purpose and impact of higher education,ā said dean and professor in the Washkewicz College of Engineering Richard Schoephoerster.
āThat includes social mobility, research with impact on the community, and service to the community the university serves.ā
In the most recent rankings in 2024, 51ĀŅĀ×ās overall ranking by Washington Monthly was second only to Ohio Stateās overall ranking compared with all public colleges and universities in Ohio.
Additionally, 51ĀŅĀ× ranked:
- #2 in social mobility (behind only The Ohio State)
- #3 in service among Ohio publics
- #6 in research among Ohio publics
āWe should be very proud of this ranking,ā said Schoephoerster. āThe metrics Washington Monthly uses are totally aligned with the Cleveland State United plan. As we continue to implement that plan and improve our social mobility impact and our research impact and service to the community, our ranking in the Washington Monthly should only increase.ā
